One tub, three ways to heat it
Built to evolve with your property
Every AlumiTub begins as the same tub. The heating system is what changes, and it can change again as your property, your power and your plans do.
What every system shares
Start
Wood Fired
No power needed. Build it with the free compatibility ports and nothing is ruled out later.
Add
Filtration
A 120V filtration system in cedar steps beside the tub, added at order or retrofitted later.
Become
Hybrid
Add electric heat and it runs on wood, electricity or both, without rebuilding the tub.
On the Electric and Hybrid, the heater, pump and filter sit in the cedar steps, detachable and reachable by hand, so each part can be serviced or replaced on its own.
Built once, kept for life
25 years of building for properties everywhere, in every climate and on every kind of terrain, shaped every part of the tub.
Enduring materials
Riveted marine-grade aluminum, stainless steel and Canadian Western Red Cedar, chosen for decades of weather far harder than a backyard.
Made to move
Light enough to roll through a gate and ride in a pickup, so it goes where life takes you.
Built to evolve alongside you
Change how it heats as your property, your power and your plans change, without rebuilding the tub.
Every part within reach
Each part can be reached by hand and replaced on its own, and we still supply parts for tubs built two decades ago.
Proven everywhere
Tested heating at -44°C (-47°F), and at home on islands, mountains, lakeshores and high desert.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose a cedar hot tub over other materials?
Cedar hot tubs offer a natural, timeless aesthetic that blends beautifully with outdoor spaces, but their benefits go beyond looks. Western Red Cedar is naturally resistant to rot and decay, making it an excellent choice for long-term durability. Traditional cedar tubs rely on the wood swelling to seal. An AlumiTub doesn't have to, which is why it can be drained, moved and left empty without consequence. The marine-grade aluminum foundation of AlumiTubs enhances this durability further, ensuring a watertight design that won’t warp or degrade over time. Western Red Cedar provides not only strength but also natural oils that help resist moisture damage.
How does an AlumiTub stay watertight over time?
Traditional wooden hot tubs can develop leaks as the wood shrinks and swells with changing moisture levels. AlumiTubs eliminates this issue by incorporating a marine-grade aluminum foundation that remains watertight in any condition. This ensures the beauty and insulation properties of cedar without the risk of leaks. AlumiTubs' construction is designed to outperform traditional wood-fired hot tubs, ensuring durability in all weather conditions.
What’s the difference between a wood-fired and an electric cedar hot tub?
A wood-fired hot tub offers an off-grid experience, heating water efficiently through a submerged firebox without requiring electricity. This setup is ideal for remote locations, cabins, or those who enjoy a more hands-on heating process. Electric models, on the other hand, provide precise temperature control and extended water cleanliness through a filtration system. The Hybrid Hot Tub combines both heating methods, allowing users to switch between wood-fired and electric heating depending on their needs. The AlumiTub Hybrid offers the flexibility to enjoy both traditional and modern heating options in one unit.
How do I care for and maintain a cedar hot tub?
Every hot tub needs a water care routine, and on an AlumiTub it is a simple one. On a Wood Fired without filtration, a fresh fill lasts from a few days to a couple of weeks. With filtration on the Electric, Hybrid or Wood Fired with filtration, water stays clean for three to four months. Good Clean Living Water Care is the system we made for it: start with cleaner fill water, keep it balanced, and sanitize with bromine at 2 to 3 ppm, never chlorine. The Water Care Academy walks through the routine.
Can a cedar hot tub be used in freezing temperatures?
AlumiTubs are built for year-round performance, even in extreme cold. Every tub has 360 degrees of insulation around the tub and floating insulation across the water surface, finished by the lid, with rigid insulation laid beneath the base during site prep. Tested in sub-zero conditions as extreme as -44°C, the design is built to hold heat rather than fight to replace it.
Wood Fired. The submerged firebox is 50% larger than the market standard and heats the water directly rather than through pipes. Once up to temperature, the tub holds it on roughly an armful of wood a day, with an overnight loss of only a few degrees.
Electric. Set a temperature and the tub holds it continuously, so it is ready whenever you are with no fire to build. WiFi control lets you schedule heating around how you actually use it, bringing the tub up before you arrive and easing off when you don’t need it, which is where most of the efficiency comes from in winter.
Hybrid. Both, and often both at once. Electric holds a baseline temperature so the tub is never starting from cold, and a fire takes it the rest of the way in a fraction of the time. Schedule it by app on the drive up, light the fire when you arrive, and it is ready by the time you have unpacked. It also means a power outage or a fire ban never costs you the season.
Cold weather testing has proven that these tubs perform reliably in the harshest conditions.
How do I keep it from freezing, and can I leave it for the winter?
While you are using it, keep it hot and covered. The Wood Fired holds its temperature on about an armful of wood a day. The Electric and Hybrid hold your set temperature automatically, and freeze protection keeps the water circulating whenever it drops to 44°F, for as long as there is power. On the Hybrid, the fire covers an outage.
If the property will sit empty through a freeze, drain it. There is no wood that has to stay wet to stay sealed and no plumbing inside the tub, so drained, an AlumiTub has nothing inside it to freeze. On the Electric and Hybrid, drain the equipment in the cedar steps too, as the manual sets out. When you are back, it fills and heats the same day.
