Does Your Hot Tub Need UV or Ozone?
Both are sold as a way to use fewer chemicals, and both do real work. But almost nobody explains what they are compensating for, which makes it hard to judge whether you need one.
Clear, comfortable water comes down to four numbers and a simple routine. The Water Care Academy is AlumiTubs' plain guide to hot tub water care for any tub, wood fired or electric, cedar or acrylic: how to test and balance your water, how to keep it clean between changes, and what to do when it turns cloudy, foamy, green or starts to smell.
Start with clean fill water, test two or three times a week when the tub is in use, and adjust in order: alkalinity, then pH, then calcium, then sanitizer. Most of the problems people search for, cloudy water, foam, scale, a sharp smell, start with one reading out of range. Keep the water balanced and the filter clean, and sanitizer becomes a small, steady safeguard rather than the main treatment.
Not sure where your water is? The Water Care Assistant takes your test strip readings and tells you what to adjust, in what order. For a preventative routine built around this approach, see Good Clean Living Water Care.
