Earth Friendly Hot Tub Use

Smart Water Conservation Tips for Your Hot Tub
Looking for simple, effective ways to conserve water with your hot tub? Whether you’re nestled lakeside, surrounded by forest, or soaking under the stars in your backyard, there are several ways you can reduce your water use without sacrificing comfort. Here are our top tips for getting the most out of every drop:
⸻
1. Fill Your Tub from a Natural Source
One of the best ways to save water is to use what’s already available in your environment. Pumping water directly from a nearby lake, the ocean, or a rainwater collection system is a great start. You can test the water cleanliness before hopping in using test strips to verify it's safe for soaking.
⸻
2. Make a Single Fill Last for Months
With just a few easy habits, you can keep your water fresh and clean for an extended period:
• Rinse off before you soak – A quick shower helps remove sunscreen, lotions, shampoo, and even laundry detergent residue from your skin and swimwear. These substances can degrade water quality over time.
• Use a water softener or filter if you’re using well water. This helps extend the life of your tub and your keep your water clean by minimizing contaminants from entering the tub to begin with.
• If you’re off-grid or using alternative water sources, consider repurposing your water once it’s time to drain it. Hook up a hose to the Drain Kit and direct the water to your garden or flower beds—your plants will thank you!
• Using an electric hot tub built-in filtration system, water changes are kept at a minimum for an always-clean soak that preserves water for 3-4 months at a time between water changes.
⸻
3. Keep It Clean Between Uses
Maintaining clean water is easier than you think:
• Always cover your tub with the provided lids when not in use to keep leaves, bugs, and debris out.
• Use a small skimming net to scoop out anything that lands in the tub during use—this small step can go a long way toward keeping your water pristine.
• Treat your water with natural hot tub chemicals that extend its hygiene for months at a time without the use of chlorine.
⸻
4. Embrace Saltwater—Nature’s Cleanser
If you’re lucky enough to be close to the sea, you can fill your tub with saltwater. Saltwater soaking is an incredibly relaxing and therapeutic experience. Plus, you can enjoy it “au naturel”—no added chemicals—for about 7 to 10 days before needing to change it. Just use a simple filter to keep out debris and you’re good to go.
⸻
Make Your Hot Tub Even More Eco-Friendly
